I just started cooking in aDO and castiron skillet. It seem like you have to use oli in the pan before you even cook bacon, or it makes a crust thats hard to clean off. Dose anyone else have this problem. Would a spray olive oil work.

Yea, the iron has to be seasoned. There is a sticky in the DO section on it. Take a look, don;t know what brand ya bought, some are better than others, stay away from that Chinese stuff. But as ya go through the seasoning process over time, that skillet will be your go to pan. They convey heat really well, clean up is easy and they don't take much heat to do the job when ya compare it to that teflon crud. Plus, bacon and stuff is just better in CI skillets.

I would season it again. New stuff say's they are seasoned . I would clean it up without detergent & use lard to season. Check the DO section, lotsa great info.Sunset Eagle Aviation

You may needa lil coat of oil till it get 's seasoned. As the iron turn's black & slick ya got it seasoned. All I ever use for clean up is a plastic scrub brush & hot water & towel dry. If it has a lid I put a folded paper towel between the pot & lid. Toooo much humidity here & it helps to draw moisture. More idea's are coming from other's hang in there.
