Just wanted to say hello and thank everyone for all the valuable information. I'm new to the smoking techniques that I'm learning about. I plan to do quite a bit of smoking and eating this year. Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

            Thanks guys.

I hate to ask a dumb question, but what are good prices for charcoal? I'd like to stock up when I find a good price.

Me and a buddy buy a pallett of KBB (Kingsford Blue Bag) when they go on sale @ WalMart. Other brands don't go on sale as often, if I recall correctly. I think last time we bought it, it was something like $5.99 for a 2 pack of 15 pound bags, or $3 a piece+- ..... watch Home Depot, Lowes and WalMart, etc. for sales and stock up. 1) you pay roughly 1/2 regular price 2) you hardly ever run oot

                from Kansas City.

Kingsford Blue Bag (KBB) is alway on sale at memorial day (Home Depot, Lowes, Walmart)...stock up then if you want to use Briquettes. Otherwise find a good price on lump and then invest. You may peruse the Naked Whiz Lump Charcoal Database if you want to start looking at charcoal. I find that Lump is kind of a regional thing with Royal Oak as a universally available.

I also buy at Restaurant Depot and get whatever lump they have at the time.

                      Different charcoal for different purposes...

I love the KBB for hot grilling but use other briqs and lumps for other cooking methods...but that's just me...
