  • Saturday Sourdough

Been a good long while since I posted any sourdough so here goes.

    The sponge I started yesterday.

    First rise.

Punched down and let rise again.

Three of the five loaves. Slit down the middle and egg washed.

All done and out of the oven.

Had to try a slice with a big pat of butter.

Thanks for checking out my sourdough.

Thanks Dana. This starter is one that I made almost 35 years ago. Kept it going all this time.

Thanks Jeanie. The sourdough aroma wafts through the house even before I begin mixing up the bread. It only gets better from there on out.

I still have a packet of dried starter that I got from Gunslinger years ago...I'd fire it up but my bread making skill SUCK!

                  You got it mastered Keith

Craig, you only get better with practice. Revive that starter and give it another whirl. If you find it doesn't work, I'll send you some of mine.

Wow Keith, that's my favorite bread. I was catching a whiff of fresh baked over here. Now I know where it came from.

Yeah Pete, the breeze was blowing toward the East yesterday.

I freezes quite well Alex. We wrap in plastic wrap when it's still barely warm. Then into a Zip Lock freezer bag. Keeps for months if it lasts that long. I keep one loaf already sliced and in the house freezer. My wife likes to have sourdough toast and honey first thing in the morning
