  • Standing rib roast smoke

Got a standing rib roast from Costco for 15 bucks

Seared it on the grill both sides

Smoked it for three hours over Alder on my Brinkman /charcoal smoker

I smoked some potatoes and some portobella mushrooms. Loaded the mushrooms with some penne pasta in a garlic sauce covered in cheddar cheese.

took the pork off at 150* internal temp. and foiled for an hour.

smoked the shrooms for 30 min. potatoes I smoked for 2 hrs. both were smoked over Alder.

whipped up some cherry chipotle bbq sauce.....this was a first timer for the sauce. The sauce turned out very well.

Plated and ready to eat! thanks for looking at my smoke!

Now that's one great looking Pork RR... Curious question.. the reason why you decided to sear the roast in lieu of just putting it in the smoker?? Was it a time issue or trying to give it a bark??

I wanted to seal up the juices and ....the bark....gotta have some bark. It was tender on the inside and that good dark brown bark, that tastes like bacon. drool drool
