Wonder how long the US Hockey team will last? Sigh... Look out for Russia and Canada. I guess the Swedes have an outside chance tho- I love the big ice game!

Agreed on the big ice surface. That is the size the NHL should be playing on. Wouldn't need to be calling all of the marginal holding penalties as the players would have a little room to skate.

about the only chance of a medal gb's got this time round is a young woman on a teatray sliding headfirst down the bobsliegh run 2 inches above the ice !

Don't know about you lot but I intend to watch as much of the olympics as is humanly possible !

I've only been to one Hockey match. It was at the Salt Lake Olympics. I don't even remember who was playing. It was two Slovic teams, rivals. Everyone was dressed up in their team colors and screaming and running up and down the isles. It was insane.

you win lots, you expect to win lots and you don't exactly win gracefully - if you know what I mean

So when a us national sport team consistently craps out at the olympics it cheers those of us in the rest of the world up no end :-)

Hey we have no snow in the uk, so winter sports people tend to be thin on the ground and lacking training/practice & decent kit.

We have a young woman in the snowboard cross event who's in the world top 5.
The skeleton bob nutter and some scottich women doing curling. that's it.

And old eddie may not have won anything but damn he had the balls to do the event. Buggered if you'd get me at the top of one of those ramps on a pair of skis !

I grew up with Doug Weight, although I don't talk to him anymore, you still like seeing old friends do well. He got the Silver in 02, and Lord Stanly's cup with the Canes in 06. Would have liked to see him get the gold in the Olympics though. He didn't get invited this year, so his chances are probably over for that. And as for another cup, not gonna get it with the Isles.

Ahh he's from where Livonia area? A friend of mine's family is friends with the Ralfaski's. They get tix on ocassion. Used to always get them for the Wings/Devils when he was there... I got to go to one. Nice seats they get!

And I don't think Doug would make much difference for the US team... Sigh. I just hope it's not ugly.

I love the big ice myself...Love the olympic style too....I am definite USA fan,but i check OV out too...The swedes have a nice team and the canadians....Havent checked the brackets yet,but if USA does not make finals- would love to see canada vs russia

We have a casualty...a luge slider from Georgia was killed today during practice. What a terrible accident.
