  • 12 more days....are you ready for some football

yeah i'm a cowboys fan so what..
we started camp before anyone else & the boys are playing cinci in the hall of fame game august 8th.
we were going to go but i got online an hour after tickets went on sale and some company bought up the tickets for scalping.
decent tickets went from $60 to $300 in an hour.
thats the closest the cowboys will be to me all year.they're playing the titans but it's a home game. maybe i'll do the solo greydog thing for that game in the "deathstar/jerrydome".

    anyway,i'm ready for some football.

I hear you BNC...I'm ready for some bone jarring, snot flying, cringe inducing hits that tear you right out of your cleats. All I have been hearing about lately is soccer...I frickin' hate soccer. About 3 minutes into that I'm yelling at the top of my lungs "HIT SOMEBODY"!!

Q: You know why so many people play soccer?
A: So they don't have to watch it!

Bring on football, and some nice crisp morning air that is perfect for flaming up the smoker for some afternoon wings and ribs along with a few brews while me and Mrs. Engineer dial in a game...Hell yeah!

with the White Sox in 1st place football will take second fiddle til' the end of the MLB season.

With that said I am looking forward to football and my teams the Ravens, and Sooners, and whoever is kicking the Bears ass each week.

damn skippy. soccer, tennis, & golf- maybe all great sports to play..who f*ckin' watches golf ON TV w/out the requisite andy capp/dagwood nap ?
i remember taking a margarita filled 5 gallon igloo drink cooler on the golf cart.3 club matches- pick any 3 clubs out of your bag & a shot of whiskey before every shot for 18. the ritas were for the texas hill country heat.
tennis- chasing skirts-i'd rather see the girls in maxim magazine.
        soccer- well just this.classic.

Am I ready. Born ready buddy. Got the days ticking until I can hit that parking lot, park, prepare the fare, eat, and go have some fun inside. KU games that is. We tailgate the Chiefs to. But, I ain't paying that price in that rebuilt stadium unless they are a winning team. How can a pro team justify the high price of them tickets if theteam only has enough heart and commitment to play the first series of downs or quarter. I am a die hard Chiefs fan, grew up there, love them to death. But no Super Bowl since 69 is a long time. Been close, but not all the way. Real disappointment the last few years. Everybody screamed because we had to put up with Marty ball, but ya know what, when he was here we at least made the play-offs almost every year. These guys we got now, this is their second year. Maybe you cut them a little slack, but not as much as last year. Next year, no slack. if you ain't got it after 3 years you need to leave. Thats coaches now.

Other than the Chiefs, I am a Steel Curtain man, even a little bit of the Raiders. In that other conference, hate to admit it, I kinda like them Texas boys, Cowboys that is.

Who plays that first Mondy night this year????? Chiefs vs. Chargers -- party time.

Jim, got some bad news for ya. My wife, she loves them Bears. Don't know why, but she is female and to keep things harmonious, I don't harass her too much.

But ya, I am more than ready for that party that starts every Saturday morning with the college boys and ends Monday night with the pro-boys. Only thing better than football, is a great hockey game.

Soccer? Thats for little boys to play where they don't have a football program or aren't quite old enough. Both of my boys played soccer 1 year. Then, they were old enough to hit the flag football and finally real tackle ball.

Which brings me to another thing. I do home inspections part time, easy money. But most of them come on weekends. People can't afford to go be there at the inspection except their day off. So, in 2 weeks I am going to have to start making decisions. Work vs fun? We'll see. Hey, an inspection only takes 3 or 4 hours anyhow and the paperwork another hour or two. Get them done in the morning and I can watch the game and do the paperwork at the same time.

Yep.. I have seen even $90... Kinda sux for me this year.. We have a suite out at the Deathstar.. You would think since we did the HVAC and Plumbing in the damn thing we would have a free ride in the suite... Nope! This year will cost each of our business $500 bones per person I take... That comes out of our profit from each of our business... So no games for me this year..

there ya go. 8am to 12pm is a write off on saturdays.
i remember when i lived in hawaii- @ the bar on sundays if dallas played @ noon it was a 7am breakfast buffet game. if dallas played @ 3pm- it was still 11am in hawaii.-too late for coffee too early for beer.
monday night football started @ 3:30pm hawaiian time- skip out of work early day.. yeah right.... and when the time changes to fall back... 2:20 hawaiian time...

i always hated dallas noon games.

CFL is in week 5 already, we used to get the games on cable, not the best football but it was something to take the edge off the jones until the season started here.
