i know that but market wise, hatch usually refers to a large green hot chili as opposed to a large green mild chili like an Anaheim yet they are all "new mexico'' chilis that are variants of #9............i am currently growing a couple of "sandia"...but don't tell the new mexico verson of the AOC!

Yeah but the peppers in my local stores are labeled as Hatch...And no hotter than the Anaheim peppers in the bin next to em...

And that's why I am growing my own

that's cuz the chili overlords developed a special cultivar they ship up there called "por el mercado del gringo" .............we get the cultivar down here called "aye! como chingas" ......they tend to be a tad bit spicier.
