  • Capt Dan 7/24/2015

My good friend, teacher, pitmaster and general great man Dan passed away this AM. I learned soo much about BBQ and competition cooking from him, as well as some lessons on life, and just how fragile it can be.

I did get to visit with him a month or so back, and talked to him last week. What a tough soul he had... and kind.

I'm gonna miss you my friend. I already do.

God Speed you Daniel, and comfort and peace to your family and friends.

This is how I'd like to remember Capt.

They took Reserve Grand that year. Rich you could put up the pictures of the trophy's I can't edit that.

I called the capt about a month a go and we had a great chat about the good old days. I will always remember that.

May you rest in peace brother. God Bless you and your family Capt Dan.
    All the best
    Zeek

You may have called him Capt Dan, I called him Lucky man Dan and a few other names I should not write...I am the Lucky Woman that put up with him for 31 years. Together we had the two greatest joys of our lives Justin and Jason! Dan was passionate to the point of obsession when it came to fishing and BBQ. I want to thank everyone for their generosity, it means so much to us that you care so much about him. Bless you (Big Red-the jello shot queen)

I knew I shouldn't have opened this. I knew him a little and loved him a lot. But I know a lot of you knew him well and loved him even better. Sorry I wasn't around to offer support. I know what he meant to all of you and I'm sorry for your loss. He mentored me as well.

I never actually got to meet him in person, but felt I knew him well, because of this forum. I learned a lot from him. He was a great, loving and caring man. He is missed for sure. I know he's got things stirred up in Heaven!

If I know him, he's got something on the smoker and a cool buzz to boot
