Im sure it will be much better than my old 2011 model Masterbuilt propane smoker. But it serves me well as a cold smoker now. Back when I got it, I sealed the door & made a stack off the back to help with the air flow and smoke direction. Its worth the effort to keep the smoke screen down.

Just took this out of the MB. Looks pretty good and is tender. About 9.5 hours with 4 hours of hickory smoke.

Looks good to me. The issue I had with mine was random crazy temp swings. It would be running smooth for hours at 225 or whatever, then it would jump up to 350-400 for no apparent reason. Im sure it was just a poor quality propane valve, but it drove me nuts. Maybe it was a poltergeist?

What did they do with the chip pan? The old design had open vents which would ignite the chips. The DIY fix was to make a grate and put a Cast iron frying pan on it for chips. That worked pretty well and was the go to method at the time. Hope yours works out good.

This was the first time to use it. For the first couple of hours I was up and down every 20 mins or so when the temp would spike too high or I noticed it was decreasing. The wind outside wasn't helping either till I put up a temp windbreak. The last 4-5 hours was fairly steady at 250/260. I cranked it up to 350 the last hour and half or so and it held within 5 degrees. I knew about the chip pan problem and used my old 12" Lodge CI skillet and it worked like a champ. Put it directly on the chip pan. No flames.
