  • My stick burner

I was asked in the introduce yourself forum to post some pictures of my reverse flow smoker I built. So here they are. I started with a 500 gallon propane tank and went from there. This was a project that took almost 3 years to complete. After getting the tank and cutting the doors I took over a year off from it taking care other stuff and finally got back to it and spent about 9 months completing it.

    My stick burner

That is a beast. Are those spring hinges on the inside?

I was not fond of the idea of huge counterweights so I decided to try using hood hinges instead. I used hinges for a older Chevy truck and had to go with 2 at each hinge. The doors are not easy open but they do open without counterweights.
As you can see I used horseshoes in a few spots I have horses and like to dabble in horseshoe art so it seemed right to add them to my smoker.
It is now in it's permanent location in my barn where I am making a outdoor kitchen with all my smokers (I have a propane vertical smoker and I am in the process of building a commercial stainless steel freezer into a cold smoker. I am going to convert the shavings room into a smokehouse for smoking fish and setup stainless steel tables and sinks for cleaning fish and processing meat.

Here it is going to it's home and one of the first smokes in it.
I had to cut the stack in order to get in the door and reattach it after we got it in.

That's one hell of a cooker.

One of these days I'll have me a stick burner. Nothing like that monster but I'll have one.
