  • Bob BQ Sauce: The super secret $29.95 version!

    Bob BQ Sauce

    The dry ingredients :

    1) 1.6oz package of McCormick (Slow Cookers) BBQ Pulled Pork seasoning mix
1 teaspoon Mad Hunky Rich's General Purpose Rub
    2 tablespoons dried minced onions
2 tablespoons corn or modified food starch
1 cup (packed) light brown sugar

The wet ingredients : Note: I use "dry measures" for all ingredients.

    2/3 cup cider vinegar
    2 cups cold water
    1 cup ketchup
    1/4 cup molasses

    The process :

Thoroughly mix all dry ingredients and then wisk together with all wet ingredients in a 1.5-2 quart saucepan. Slowly heat until boiling and then reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes. Wisk to prevent scorching. Allow to cool and then serve as a topping or dipping sauce. Makes about a quart. Leftover sauce freezes well for storage. Proportion of ingredients is flexible to meet individual tastes.

I hope everyone enjoys this sauce. It has become a favorite around my neighborhood.
    Thanks for reading,
    Bob

If you like to limit the sweet a bit...Bob suggested to me to drop the molasses. It does have a multi-level profile, and it is danged simple to cook up!

Here, the McCormick mixes are in the isle with the gravy mixes and (sorry for swearing) Super Walmart does carry them.

For less sweet, you can cut back on the molasses or brown sugar. You can play with the amount of ketchup or vinegar. You can add water after cooling for a thinner sauce. It really is a versatile recipe. The way I posted it, is just where the people that I know like it.

Finally got around to making the sauce that was so generously sent to me a couple of weeks ago... have been a bit under the weather

So here is the spice packet that was sent to me.

Followed the directions and added the Ketchup, Water, molasses and ACV, and spices and mixed and boiled and simmered. Here it is simmering away!

Got out some pulled pork for sammy and what not today. Here is one of them.

This is some right good sauce I tell ya. Asked my daughter what she thought and she loved it.. I said what was better Bob BBQ or Blues Hog and she said Bob's with excitement!

This is a very good sauce that will be come a regular in the Barkonbutts house. It is a nice sweet vinegar sauce. i did cut just a hair of the molasses by maybe a 1/16 of a cup give or take. Think it was right on! Thanks again for a great sauce and a recipe that will be used over and over again here!

Thanks and have a great night!
