or add lemon juice or zest to cut the sweet. that's the way we've always done it in my family.

I think that would really "wake up" other flavors in it too Rob. Thanks and next round I'll give the lemon a try.

It is my first Rich. Thank you, it is an honor.

probably make more sense to drop the brown sugar and keep the molasses. The molasses adds a lot more to the suace than the sugar: colour, flavour, richness etc

Made a batch of this sauce and used it on a spatchcocked chicken on the grill today. All I can say is WOW! It even got the Wardens approval and she really doesn't care for BBQ sauce much.

                  Thanks!

ETA: I forgot to add that I didn't have an MH so I used Magic dust in it's place.

I'm really glad that you and the warden enjoyed it! I hope it becomes your go to sauce! I have started to play with the ingredients. Try subbing strong coffee for the water. We liked that on pulled beef sandwiches.

Coffee coffee coffee... guess I'm gonna have to loosen up a bit and try some coffee. BBQ Goddess sent me some java rub. It was good...but it was weird. I need to get over that.

                          Coffee, interesting.

Had a supervisors meeting today at work and I supplied the pulled pork and sauce. It was a huge hit. Did 2 shoulders and there wasn't a bit left over. Once I told them the sauce was home made they all asked if I was going to bottle it and sell it at the next meeting.

Sister gave us some at Talladega & several other of her concoctions! The Java was good stuff!

I would love to have it bottled and market it. It is just such an involved process. I have done several versions of it ( original, coffee, root beer and habanero), all have gotten good reviews from family and friends. I decided to post it here and hopefully it will become a favorite for everyone.
