  • "Tagging" posts

As you create a thread, read it thru to the bottom. There is a choice for adding "tags". Tags are additional info tacked onto the post that allows searching for threads using the tag phrases. This would allow a post to show up for things other than the main subject.

For instance Becky's kabob post... grilling, recipe, kabob- could probably also add marinade as well? Anyway... it adds another search ability to the forums here.

You can also click on the "tags" choice, and a list of the ones in use will come up. Obviously it is good to use the same tags for similar things...so they will show up with the common tag search words.

Is this something each member of previously posted threads can take some time and go through their personally started threads and edit or modify?

Yes. Other members can add tags too.

      Here's some info on "tags".

Ohhhh, okay... makes sense. Same as adding tags to your website for the search engines to track...

I think I'll start tagging my posts with www.smoked-meat.com
and the subject. That should move this site up the ladder in the Google searches
Now if I could only figure out how to do it.
          On Edit: Figured it out.

I don't see why it wouldn't but maybe DDave can chime in as he seems to know his business
Not sure if what I did had any effect, but I Googled "smoked meat" and clicked on "smoked meat forum" and this site came up #5 & 6 on the list.

Well, thank you Mikey, but unfortunately, that's outside of my area of expertise. If I had to guess, I would guess that the more times the Google spider sees the phrase "smoked meat" or "smoking meat" the more this site would be associated with those terms. But that's just a guess.

On a side note . . .I like your avatars. Keep 'em coming.

How does she put her blouse on over her Butt?
On edit: Apparently this reply had to do with an avatar because I sure can't figure out what I am talking about.
