Those are the same two I've looked at. Wish I could find a place that actually has them in stock.
Would like to touch the thing instead of just buying online.

Holy chit!!!!
Screw that new one----I'd be all over that one from Cabelas for $299!!!
I paid $349 (on sale!) two years ago for mine!!!!
The picture of the MES 40 at that link shows it to be ALL SS. That may or may not be true, but even if it isn't, I never saw an MES 40 (with window & remote control) at Cabelas for only $299.
Then you don't have to worry about the rumors about WallyWorld being true.
I would not hesitate, if I didn't already have one.

Yes---Very true---They use stock pics in their ads, and you don't really know what you're getting unless you see it in person.
Maybe if you get your call put right through to the guy on the floor, with the smoker right in front of him, and question him about which one it is.
Does it have this? How about that?
I got mine at the store, and they had 57 exactly like it in their on site warehouse. I still wouldn't have trusted anything but seeing it with my own eyes.

Excellent. I am fortunate to have a Cabela's near by. Can't pull the trigger until the middle of next month . Most likely going to. The Sam's club version clearly states made in China.

No doubt that Cabela's sale won't be there next month, but you could get lucky.
Let me explain better----All MES are made in China, but it is my understanding that products made in China and "products made in China especially for Wally" could be too different things.
I do not know this for a fact, but I have been told that by many, including the fire inspector who investigated my Son's Friend's burned down 5 car garage, with his Corvette, two Cycles, and numerous other things inside. The fire started from undersized wiring in a WallyWorld, Made in China Battery charger.
I called and was told that the price was good until they ran out of them. So that is good news for me. The price has been like that for weeks. I agree on the made to order thing. I posted as such back in the beginning of thenthread. I have a line on a 22.5" wsm used for 150 . Not as an alternative but a separate purchase. If the guy does not get back to me soon I will open the box on the offset I got from wal mart, retask the wsm money, add a few bucks and start blowing up your pm box with questions soon.

Haven't read through this whole thread so sorry if this has been discussed. My buddy just bought a new MES 30 from Cabellas online, and it now is glass on the front, has a newly laid out thermostat that also sits on the front of the unit, and the top exhaust is on the opposite side. He paid $199 for the 30".

Yup---That's a good buy if the MES 30 is big enough for him. I paid $169 for my MES 30 nearly 4 years ago, and it didn't have a window or a remote control, or any of the other newer goodies. I found it to be too small, and got the MES 40 I have now.
