My grandma always made these with oyster crackers, ranch, and dill weed. I've never seen them with the red peppers. Can't wait to try them:)

Alabama Fire Crackers
Here's the recipe I use
1 Box (4 sleeves) Saltine Crackers
1 cup of vegetable oil
4 TBS Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing (Dry Stuff)
2 TBS Crushed Red Peppers
1 tsp Garlic Powder
1 tsp Onion Powder
1/2 tsp White Pepper
For a bit more bite I added a tsp of Mad Hunky Hot Whang
Put crackers in 2 gallon bag. Mix dry ingredients into oil and pour over crackers. Close bag and gently roll to coat crackers. Let set for at least 24 hrs.
Put these out as bar snacks...

I get the plain ones, nothing on them. The hot whang just compliments the other ingredients. I love these things!Lang 36 Patio, a few Webers, 2 Eggs, plenty of gadgets and a MES 40 Gen 2.5 electric for bacon and sausage.
My best asset however is the inspiration from the members on this forum.

I just made a batch of these thing and they are addicting. Next time I will use unsalted crackers too, they are slightly on the salty side.Weber Performer, 26" Weber grill, 18" WSM, UDS, Santa Maria Grill

I think that's the same one I use. First time I made them everyone went crazy over them. I can see alot of things working in this.

Finally got around to trying this out. Don't know why I waited so long! Great stuff and I can see trying out lots of different spices. I only did one sleeve of Saltines and used some Ranch mix, red pepper flakes and Mad Hunky. Going to have to kick it up a notch next time though.Becky
