  • I want to make sausage/grind meat

I want to make sausage/grind meat. What should I buy?

Since it will be a "once in a while" thing I was thinking something like:

    Waring electric on Amazon

    Good or other suggestions?

I just use the attachment for the KitchenAid mixer but I'm nowhere near the sausage expert that a lot of the folks around here are.
One day I'll get a real grinder and stuffer but for now it works for the little bit that I do.

Honestly if I had a Kitchen-Aid. I would have gotten it. Probably would have been "good enough".

If you are interested in getting into it, you might think aboot buying your meat already ground and making sausage "logs" without casings to start? Fire it up, Bearcarver and some others have made some great looking stuff without casings

The Morton salt website has a beef salami recipe that calls for no casings OR a smoker. Its easy, good in the oven and great with cure, stuffed and smoked

I've got a lem and been real pleased with it. They go on sale around Xmas at scheels and cabelas for under a hundred. For the little amount I grind its perfect.

Well if it's just gonna be once in a while, then I would suggest checking out craigslist. Plenty of good deals can be found on there. But more often than not, that "once in a while" turns out to be more and more and more

Whatever you do, take your time lookin for one. Lots of bs claims on peak wattage/horsepower and whatnot. If it says it's got 10,000 watts of power and is only $19.99, chances are it's crap

For a low cost grinder or stuffer, the Northern Tool deal is a good one.

Once ya get into it... and hooked...it would not be. And next you'll be looking for a stuffer... grinders work... but stuffers will give you a more consistant product and are easier to use.
