  • I really need another DO!

Got together with the family over the Independence Day holiday and fired up the DO for some good eats! Started with biscuits on Friday morning followed quickly by a batch of sausage gravy to sop them in. My enthusiasm was slightly dampened by a rain shower that slowed down the process, even with covering the top coals with foil but it didn't have any effect on the biscuits which turned out perfect.

Friday night we feasted on pulled beef sammich's from my BOGO chucky trip at Dillon's, sides made by the ladies of the family and followed up with a batch of Mountain Dew Apple Dumplings in the dutch. I keep forgetting how quickly a sugary syrup on top of baked goods in the dutch will scorch. Oh well, a little ice cream over the top hid most of the black!

I finished up by smoking a batch of ribs for everyone on Saturday on the SIL's Traeger. I still can't see why everyone seems to like pellet grills. Three hours on smoke and still no discernible smokey flavor. Oh well, they got eaten.

Here's a few pics for your viewing pleasure!

Hehe...nice cover job! I did some "sweet ribs" at that party...added like 20% brown sugar to the rub. Yup... black they went on the bottom. Not bitter or anything, but ugly.

I have yet to have anything offa pellet pooper... seems that A-Maze-N smoker tube should be standard equipment with them?

I'd say Rich is right. Several people on here use the A Maze N Smokers when they are using their pellet grills. I've never used one or had anything off of one so I can't say how much smoke gets put into the meat.
