Craiger, I am sad to say I no longer have my Craycorts. I just found I did not use them enough on the Performer, and they were getting some light rust, and I just prefer the Gourmet grates for ease of use. Please don't hate me

Hate was not the first word that came to mind...

I love me CI grates...Even though they look like something from a public type grill in the park or something...

I just found myself avoiding the Performer, due to having to move the grates, etc. I have almost no patience, and need ease of use, and things that "thrive on neglect" They are excellent grates though! I may buy another set in the future if I find myself missing them.

My grates wouldn't be so ganked if not for neglect...Would never let them go...

I use a small board while the grill is hot,it takes the shape of the grating as it is used.

I also use a dowel rod for getting down deeper.

Can't wait to start grillin again

I ordered something similar from Pampered Chef last week. Haven't gotten it yet so looking forward to see how and if it works. They say the more you use it the better it gets and grooves develop.

I made about a dozen like that and gave them as gifts. I kept 2 for myself to use. They do form to the grates. Start out with a hot grill to establish the grooves in the wood. Then you can use it anytime. Works pretty good.
