  • DDave's Reverse Flow Build

I reserve the right to change the name of the thread. I have no idea when we will actually get going but here is our starting point.

It's got a few more plugs and crap around the side than I was hoping for. I figure I can use one of the 1-3/4" openings for the grease drain. I'm hoping maybe they can fill some of the others in and smooth them off.

What did this used to be in its previous life? Chemicals inside?

Vertical at compressor is my guess based on what looks to be a mounting foot

Shit..OK. I’ll get some pix. And look thru what I got. Don’t tell Ben Lang..OK?

I’ll bet before this is over it’d be easier maybe cheaper to buy one..but that’s not the point. I get it.

Compressor oil and prolly still a little rust. Be fine with a sandblast. Gonna wanna do that anyway..get the paint off.

It was listed as a "pressure tank" on craigslist.

Definitely easier but I don't know if it would be cheaper.

Did you ever check out www.smokebuilder.com
A lot of what your asking about grate height etc. is probably answered there.
You can Purge the tank, then cut it, then do a burn out to remove paint.

Good start! If you can keep it reverse flow, you'll like it!
Much easier to control and keep temps even.
