  • 1st contest of the year

Took 4th in butts out of 31 cookers. Weather was fun....high winds, some rain and of course cold. Tried out the BW Competitor but kept my money meat on the WSM until I get a good handle on the BW.

Congratulations on placing fourth, Goose! I've never joined in a competition, but do admire those with the fortitude to do so.

BW is short for Backwoods. I have a Competitor but, they make a few more, some bigger some smaller - I guess the Competitor is in the middle. Pics - I try sometime but I get so wrapped up in prep, cleaning, planning etc; that's really the last thing on my mind.

I will use two recipes for rub - one is one I bought (not the one your thinking of) and the other is from our sponsor (Smoking Coles) they have rub and sauce which are very good.
Method - use a good charcoal, cook them slow and under 250, inject and have a good rub.

I use the WSM for the money meat until I can figure out the BW Competitor.
