Since I've never done anything like this before was just wondering if the BBQ below is good for a beginner? And what would be the easiest beginner friendly meat to start with?

Yes that's a good starter, some might disagree with me but with the weber I would try starting with some chicken thighs. Pork shoulders are very forgiving for a first smoke but managing charcoal for that long might need a learning curve. Also, look around the forums and check out the grilling forum, lots of great info on using webers. Also look into getting a vortex.

Weber kettle is a great place to start...
But don't use it indoors on the carpet
