Or when you go to bed add new product to the burnt end... (I know that didn't sound right, but you know what I mean!)

Heh...yeah- good idea there- but since it's cold smoked, and cured... no need to go outta your way to keep the smoke on it..it'll be there waiting in the AM for more

Add more dust/pellets to the area already burnt, connected to th part still lit- and let it burn back the other way...

That probably works---I never tried it.

I always clean mine out, before I refill it. I figure if you're going to have trouble keeping it burning, it isn't going to help having leftover ashes & residue burned onto the bottom holes, blocking air from getting to the fire.

                But that's just me.

Just wanted to add that on my last smoke I microwaved the apple pellets and layered it with oak. It burned all the way through with no trouble at all. I am going to think that there was some additional moisture in the maple and apple pellets or something. Haven't had any problems of late. Great product with outstanding service!
I rub it every chance I get!
