Thanks, we have alot of pickerel in the lake but they're small, so I'd be working with 18"-24" fish, now I just got to get out and catch some so I can give it a try.

              Bump!
Going to be doing this today with some pickerel and got a question. You never mentioned doing the salt/water brining or the vinegar soak in the refrig?
I'm going to but thought I'd ask.

yep, do it all in the fridge... we are going to be doing up a batch also with some pike we got on out cuple day adventure to canada. i save the tails which are boneless for pan frying, and pickle the rib sections with the y bones. you will not be dissapointed, we sure wern't.

That looks damn good E! for sure! Question though for those of us that don't get to catch a bunch of pike... Can that recipe be used with other kinds of fish? Any recommendations? Gonna have to try me some, and throw in some peppers too!

lmao missed this comment first time round.
Typical fisherman: 'oh hell tham 2 footers ? we just think of them as tiddlers, hell anything under a couple of pound we just throw back !'

You've got a lake full of edible fish 1.5 - 2 foot long and they're the small ones

have pickled pike, mainly cuz gets rid of the y bones... but have also done crappies, walleye, know Fishawn does steelhead or salmon, mebe both. so seems pretty much any freshwater fish would work. not sure on the saltwater stuff.

I did a sample run of Erains recipe using some pickerel. I made up 4 pints and took them to the local watering hole, needless to say they didn't last long, they got a two thumbs up from everyone that tried them.

(I started a thread about it but my camera shit the bed and couldn't add pic's, so it didn't happen )

                        Thanks again Bro!!! Awesome recipe!
