      Did you mean the Cowboy sparks less or the RO? Because it seemed like the RO didn't spark very much at all.

        it seemed that way. i buy r.o. & gfs (which is r.o. in a gfs bag) and that stuff is a fireworks show...

          cant really beat grilling or smoking with lump in regards to temp, taste, pice and the lack of fillers found in many briquettes.

          Even Cowboy. Which I wont use it anymore, but have. I go with RO when I am using lump. Lately its been coconut shell briquettes for me, even cheaper than lump, and burns just as hot and clean.
          Just because you welded some shit together doesnt make it a WSM.

            Well, I'll have to admit -- I didn't light it in a chimney. I just put a layer down in the charcoal basket then lit some paper towels under the charcoal basket.

            I heard some crackling but didn't really see any sparks flying. I imagine with the more severe updraft that a chimney would provide, it may have been worse.
