No meat in compost...I keep a plastic shopping bag in sink and put scraps of veggies in and take out almost daily to pile...Really becomes an afterthought after 40 years or so..

Used coffeee grounds are good too...Has a bit of nitrogen in it...Some folk hit all the coffee shops for it...Egg shells are fine...

For my veggie compost pile i just dug a 3x3 foot hole and fill it and turn frequently...Absolutely loaded with earthworms....I keep at least 2 going..I also have just leaf compost piles...

I use a gorrilla storage rack to start plants under flourescent wide spectrum lights..Very simple....

BIG PLUS to have someone growing nearby...Should give you some insight into what grows well in your area etc...

Thanks Al, great advice & all areas noted...... I have a few extra large metal garage racks that should fit the bill.... Place them facing South against the glass slider & use a fluorescent wide spectrum light.... then gently "aclimate" them when the weather starts to warm a bit? ....

Wish we had room for the compost gig... we barely have enough room for the garden! We had a small area for compost at the old house, man that was some good chit!

                          Drinks well with others

                            COMPOST UPDATE!!!

I have been composting my ass off all day & this is what I got .... Pretty proud of my composting skills on my first day I must say.... It's a bit harder than I thought it would be, but I think I'll stick with it another day or two if I don't get too tired. Thanks for all the inspiration fellas, but it's time for this old composter to hit the hay, I'm whooped

Here's the neighbors garden, he's got the bar set pretty high for me....

Never owned a 2 story house until now, interesting what you can see from up here.... Here's my 7 year old trying to get in the shed where I store all me Whisky
