I keep a small stash of skeet to use on beef in combination with other woods...It don't suck if used right...
I guess I never had the proper schoolin' on using mesquite. I've used many a wood, butt mesquite just never lit my fire...

      Why you hatin on mesquite?
I have always used some on my brisket smokes.
I have a feeling the new guy is in for a education on mesquite.
LOL..sorry. It IS personal taste. I know it’s used thruout the BBQ AND grilling world. And truth be told..it’s not bad for grilling.. a faster process. It’s very hot and does not have the time to get too heavy on the meat.

Just never liked it in a smoker. Sorry... no affront intended. Was more a humorous comment than anything.

I got some Mesquite lump charcoal that was really nice...but lump is a totally different gig than the bare wood.

Maybe I should pitch that as a marketing slogan to B&B ... "We don't smell like rat piss!"

Prolly alot of truth here as well. I’ll admit I have never even tried it in my Lang, where I could have a nice clean fire going. Hmm.

I've been using the B&B oak lump because that's all I can get without going out of town...Actually like it...Lots of really big chunks of lump and no garbage like in the Royal Oak...
