  • Which Container are y'all using or SV circullators?

    Morning all,

I had tried SV with a temp regulator and a crock pot enough to know i want to do it right. So I picked up a deal on an Anova 800 watt SV circulator over the weekend. Question is what containers are y'all using and do you know of any deals on say a 3 gallon size container with a lid? I've seen anything from plastic coolers to Rubbermaid food storage tubs to stock pots used. Curious how all you S-M semi-pros are doing the SV gig?

I bought a couple different sizes of these from webstaurantstore. But I don't really do SV cooks. I use the SV for reheating Pulled Pork, soup, & things like that.

I use a large crab pot. Works just fine.

I'd check with Craig though, see what he thinks.

My best asset however is the inspiration from the members on this forum.

I cut a notch out of the top for the circulator.

That place has some good prices. They opened up a Restaurant Depot store in Phoenix that doesnt require a membership. Think I'll check them out too. In the meantime, i can always use a stock pot

Whatever this tub is called. Fairly standard and cheap and various restaurant supply places. 12quart handles most items, I also have a 16 quart size for large roasts. It also happens to fit snugly in those $5 styrofoam coolers if you are worried about heat loss. The larger tub would work if you only wanted one but there is a noticeable difference in time to get the water to temp.
