  • 2011 March of Dimes Event

Hey S-M, this is will be the second year I've helped a local March of Dimes group with a BBQ fund raiser. Last year I smoked 10 butts and 108#'s of chicken thighs. http://www.smoked-meat.com/forum/sho...ht=March+Dimes

We had a great turn out and support from the community - even a couple of local SM'ers (Mr Bassman and Mr Bbally) attended - so we are ripping the lid off of this thing this year with 20 butts and 25 to 30 whole chickens which I'm hoping to accomodate with two new shelves!

Rubbed the butts yesterday afternoon and gave each one a full shot of Creole Butter and loaded them in the smoker right at midnight thrity this morning for a pork pulling party this afternoon.

Here we are at the 6 hour mark and pritzing with AJ and Buttershots. Wheew... that stint from 3:00 to 6:00 was a MUTHA!

Nine hour mark - panned and foiled.

Chickens will go on Tuesday morning to be chopped and served straight away.
    Updates to follow!

thanks for checking out my March of Dimes post.
    Tracey

Keep me up to date, Tracey and I'll come help with the pulling. Hope it's not raining too hard over there. I hear it drizzling on the skylight this morning.

              Hey Tracey,

I remember your event from last year...what a feast and what a great thing you are doing. This year's event, man you are really amping it up...20 butts?? I hope Keith is gonna help process those because that's a lot of work. I know you are gonna have another awesome success. Walle is working hard today. Beautiful pics of Walle filled to the brim.

Good luck with the rest of the day. for your commitment to a worthwhile event and the great thing you are doing.
