  • Just purchased MES 30

    Just got a MES 30 and seasoned it today. My question is I didn't get two pieces of packing material out from the inside. When the 3 hours was up I opened up he smoker and noticed these 2 pieces of styrofoam and tape melted. It didn't stick to anything but was melted. Will this effect my smoking of meat say taste or such? Im a newbie to smoking btw..

    If it didn't stick to anything and you were able to get all of it out, you should be fine.

      Styrofoam was hard as a rock and tape was too...im just worried about it effecting future smokes

                You can do another seasoning run then give it a sniff test. If there is some smell lingering it most likely will not last long.

                  I doubt it will be a problem...
                  If unsure...Run it again to re season and go from there...

                    I will do another reseasoning to reassure my mind...thanks guys. Cant wait to smoke some meat and post pics.

                          Just let it run for a good while until you don't smell it anymore. Don't feel like a goof. That happens a lot. I'm thinking it's like those big ants that like to infiltrate our house. For every person that isn't ruled by pride who posts about this, there are 100 who don't LOL.

                              Yep, you'll be fine. from New Jersey.
                              Lang 36 Patio, a few Webers, 2 Eggs, plenty of gadgets and a MES 40 Gen 2.5 electric for bacon and sausage.
                              My best asset however is the inspiration from the members on this forum.
