...after searching the forum to fix my new smoker. I bought a used 500 gal reverse flow smoker for a good deal. My first trial burn was an epic failure.
With the largest fire possible in the box it would only get to 200-225 once the door on the firebox was closed. That temp started dropping almost immediately.
After a little research and number crunching on a calculator I found the problem.
Not near enough air venting in the firebox. After cutting 4 - 3 1/2" x 4" holes its running much better. gets to temp and maintains much better with 1/3rd the fuel. now I have to work on the chimney fine tunning.
