Seriously these are meant to be useful toys, not balls on accurate top of the range industrial tools.
Hell if you actually know it's off and by how much - then just look on that as 'calibration' and factor it in.

and while you're waiting, I'm already having a lot of fun with my new toy that arrived this morning :-) (yeah I was impressed - think I only ordered it monday)

So far I have established that dave loses more heat through his head than my dad and I lose hardly any. (I have hair, they don't, as such lol)
That bilbo is about 6oC cooler than phoenix and buzz - good insulation that thick white fur.

That the chicken defrosting in the kitchen really should be in the fridge as the top is 12 and the bottom is 0.5.
The washing up water I just used was only 40 oC

That the front of my car is 2oC warmer than the ground it's standing on. Dark blue, so must be absorbing ir from the sun.

As far as 'being a few degrees off'. It's +-1.5 %
So at 100 degrees it's 1.5 either way.

I'm seriously impressed that you can get such an amazing piece of technology for such a small amount of money.

Oh yeah and smoked-meat.com is 22 oC or 71 f - apporx 4 degress c warmer than it's surroundings

You'll be in the right ballpark...but dead-nuts-accurate, not so much...which you really don't need anyway.

I like mine, and for 15 bucks, walk about your house to see if your windows need sealing...and it'll pay for itself in one season. Oh, and yeah, it can read your BBQ temps too.
