Not sure if anyone has heard of this being done in the U.S..I know in Europe acorns have been used for a long time. But here in Oregon we grow a lot of Hazelnuts and now people are feeding them to hogs for the last 60 - 90 days. Makes for a really good pork!

Takes allot of work and an open mind to make good BBQ.
Praise the Lord and pass the Cannabis.
would definitely make a difference.
But would taste very different to the acorn pigs. Acorns are bitter as gall - or gall is bitter as acorns, take your pick.
Hazelnuts - not so much.
I've heard of pigs fed on sweet chestnuts. Hell they'll eat pretty much any kind of fruit or seed.
And that prosciutto looks pretty damn sweet too !

Best ham in the world ( if you can afford it $$$$$$ is Spanish jamon ) raised on a acrons, the aging and curing has a lot to do with it too tho.
But the taste is amazing

Going to Philly in September for my Brothers bachelor party. We are going to dine at Amada, a restaurant owned by Iron Chef Jose Garces, and one of the things we're gonna order is a Charcuterie plate which includes jamon.
Also gonna get a half of a roasted suckling pig
