I been playing around with this for a while...
Mamma loves some dill sauce with her fish...
Her favorite kind is no longer available in our stores...
And I'm too broke and lazy to order it online
So this is where we are...Arrowroot powder and dill pickle juice...
Why arrowroot instead of cornstarch?
Cornstarch requires more heat, longer cook time, and produces a cloudy end result...
The arrowroot works well with acidic liquids and minimal heat...
Thickened to the consistency I want and nearly clear...
Beautiful
Easy Dill Sauce
1 T. arrowroot powder
1 T. water
1 C. dill pickle juice
Mix the arrowroot and water
Heat the juice to a very low boil
Mix in the slurry and remove from heat
Do not over heat. Do not over stir.
Done
Calorie free, cholesterol free, carb free, and gluten free (if that matters)...
Sodium is what it is based on the juice that you use...
