Ok, just made a half batch.

    2 sleeves of crackers.
    1/4 cup butter
    1/4 cup Veg oil
    1/2 packet Ranch dressing mix
    2 tsp. Mad Hunkey GP
    1/2 tsp. Granulated Garlic

Ms. Snarlingiron is very spice sensitive, so had to hold back on the pepper. I walked into the living room with a plate full. She took one and gave it the evil eye. Bit off half. Chewed.....and said "Oh my God, these are good!" SCORE!

Made up a full batch for our "End of the World / Christmas Steak Out" at work.

            1/2 cup Veg Oil
            1/2 cup butter
            2 Tbsp red pepper flakes
            1/2 Tbsp cayenne pepper
            1 pkg. ranch dressing mix
            1/2 Tbsp. Mad Hunkey GP
            1 tsp. granulated garlic
1/2 Tbsp. New Mexico hot ground chili

Got at least 10 requests for the recipe. Kind of a nice lingering heat.

Question about the 50/50 oil - butter mix.

Do you still get the absorption without any oily residue.
                Like the idea, just curious..

Yep, it totally absorbs into the crackers. I did heat it up pretty well, maybe 190 degrees. I also let it steep for a bit so the oil absorbed the flavors and re-heated. I just really like the butter flavor. They weren't greasy or soggy, still crisp.

Nice, I did the box of crackers with
1 1/4 cup of oil (heated)
3T Ranch dressing mix (1 packet)
                    2T Hot Whang!
                    1T Mad Hunky

People are freaking out! Everyone keeps asking me about them and if I bought them or what. Thanks for the recipe reminder (similar to the one from last year). I have made 3 full boxes of them so far :D
I rub it every chance I get!

Did this big batch with Corn & Rice Chex, Oyster crackers, Ritz, Fritos, Doritos. The cereal bags, vacuum sealed, work well for containing it too

                        holiday snackage, Dana!

Just got back from the store with saltines and pizza cheese to give these a go.

I'm going with one sleeve to start, so I'll eyeball 1/4 of your recipe above.

cuz I'm already hungry and do have cold beer!

DONE, and OMG!! AWESOME!! I just waived the bag of Smitty's above mine.. naaa, I put in 1/8 t. for one sleeve. I think I could do more, but since I just survived the end of the world, I may stick to that portion!

I used olive oil - very good!
                          Again, Dana!!

Snarliniron, that is great to know about the butter. I didn't know...that is why I was trying some of the orville butter flavored oil with the batch I posted.

In the past I just used a light canola oil...With you trying some butter and Tracey using some olive oil, it really opens up some more possibilities.
