As for the question of whether a thermapen is worth it...you don't have to spend the coin on a thermapen, but you do need to find an accurate and reliable thermo. Having said that, it will probably cost more than 10 bux...if my thermapen went belly up tomorrow, I'd have a new one here the next day...it is that important. It will make you a better and more consistent cook, it will keep your friends and family safe, and will build your confidence with what you cook. Get a GOOD thermo, and learn how to calibrate it and use it. and yes that was a period.

I said the same thing when I started. Now I have a box full of cheap alternatives when all added up they exceed the cost of a thermapen. Now that they are backlit.....even better.

I just got the Grill Beast Injector and have only used it once but that one time convinced me I made the right choice. Seems to be pretty sturdy and comes with a bunch of different injection needles and o-rings Here is the website but I picked mine up on Amazon.
