  • Fried Jalapenos and then some

My brother called me and told me about this dish he just had when he was out to eat. As he described it to me, it reminded me of an old post I made in some dark corner. The one thing different, he said it had soy sauce in it. So, I figured I'd repost this on the good side and let folks play around with it. I'm very curious to see what the soy sauce brings to the recipe. Here's the original post:

Here's a new way, at least for me of doing sauteed veggies. I was messing around one night as we had fish and small red potatoes on for dinner. Anyway, give it a shot especially if you like some heat and are trying to stay away from too much butter.

    1 half yellow onion, chopped
8 Scallions chopped both green and white parts
3-4 Serrano Peppers sliced ( I leave the seeds, etc in)
    Sliced and chopped mushrooms

    Olive oil
Red wine Vinegar, approximately 1 and half tsp
    Fish sauce, 1 tsp
One half of squeezed juice from a lime
    A pinch of Pepper
    A pinch of salt
    Soy Sauce (?)

Sautee on med high heat until desired consistency. Great with fish, salad, red potatoes, etc.

Here are 3 pictures that kind of go through the process:

It goes with a lot of stuff depending on your taste and imagination.

Alright folks, go to work and let me know how to better this

No Garlic?? I would think some roasted garlic would be a great addition.. Not to much that it will over power the other flavors..

There you have it, some garlic would be great. Don't know why I didn't think about that.

          Thanks.

I'll have to monkey around with this a bit.

          Looks awesome.

Oh, and I'd start by making the Soy Sauce EQUAL to the amount of fish sauce then bumping up to the Red Wine Vinegar level or more to taste.

Thanks everyone, I knew you all would come through

Vman, I like your way of thinking. I'm going to play around with this again this weekend. I'm even thinking some oregano and maybe some cumin. Maybe even some dried cilantro and lime juice. Ummmm, this could get interesting.
