      Re:

I liked your video a lot. I understand it was a "first experience" and the
feed back you are getting now is as valuable as the experience of doing
      the video itself.

I don't know if the girl who introduced you, did or could have held card board "Que Cards" for you, especially when you were going through the
list of ingredients in the recipes for the meat & the cheese mix. That may
be worth considering in the future as that stuff is a lot to remember. You could build yourself an artist easle to place the cards on and an assistant pull the cards off as you go, in order to show the next ones in the progression.

As for the background noise and radio, yeah it is a distraction you don't want, especially when you are cutting into an Armadillo Eggs and the radio starts playing "I'll send an S.O.S." But if you do want some music in the background a boom box with some instrumental music of an EZ listening nature may be more appreciated by your audience. Then that
would have to be feed into your microphone feed to the cam corder.

But one way around background noise where your production crew can speak to you and they won't be heard is to use a directional microphone
that pins on your shirt and only picks up your voice. It could be set up with a wireless FM transmitter. These could be found inexpensively and would be a good edition to your production equipment now if you are going to make more tutorials.

      http://www.mediacollege.com/audio/mi...teristics.html

Here is one source to check out: (about 54 pages of mic's)

      http://www.musiciansfriend.com/microphones

If you have a lap top and want to use it as a "Tele-Prompter" you could download "Prompt" which is available free for PC or Mac. You can set the font, the scroll speed, text color etc and set it up just in front of your table.
An assistant can control it for you so it feeds as you go about your tutorial.
This way the script for your tutorial including ingredients & measures will
all be fed to you in large text that you'll be able to read.

You can signal your assistant to stop or pause the tele-prompter with
hand signals such as putting your hands together or whatever would work for you.

      http://www.movieclip.biz/prompt.html

If you have a cameraperson and your camcorder can zoom in/out then a
camera tripod will allow it to pan and tilt so the camera can follow you.
With an FM wireless mic feeding into your cam corder sound input aux
then everything would set to make your productions quite impressive.

Just remember your audience's attention span and that you can break down a larger tutorial to several consecutive smaller ones.

I hope these thoughts of mine help everyone here who wants to try making a tutorial.

And, if there is a public park near by where one could set up his own grill equipment and have some privacy, then it may be a good place for making a tutorial. In my own area there are some parks with roofed picnic shelters that have water and electric service. With the electric one could run lighting as well.

        Re

Here is a technical tutorial on setting up a wireless mic system to use with one's cam corder. If you don't know anything at all about this stuff it will be rather technical as what is shown is more in the way of studio equipment. But, if you can understand the principles then you could work with less expensive or home built equipment modified from kids toys like a
"Mr Microphone" FM wireless that plays through a radio, where that radio when tuned to a certain frequency will pick up the Mic and with a "patch cable" plug into the cam corder.

          Re:

Here is a review of inexpensive eBay wireless mic's. The flexable adapter he shows, I've seen these at Dollar Tree Stores for a buck. The 90 degree adapter you may have to find elsewhere.

Great job out of the gate in my opinion. If the noise is coming from the sides or behind the camera a shotgun mic will be better at reducing it. I hope you do more of these. I enjoyed watching.
Smoke it.. and they will come!
