  • (Drum roll intro)......Behold the great mystery of the Derbyshire Bean ball !

Yes folks I've been thinking outside the box factory again.

This looks like a perfectly ordinary scotch egg being smoked next to some ribs.

And when cooked - looks no different.

However when you cut it open....

It's actually full of bbq beans !!!
Baked beans with cooked onion, wild mushroom, pancetta, MH and some garlic.

Impresssed ? You bloody well ought to be

And no I did not scoop out the innards and add the beans before taking the picture. They were inside before I started cooking.

    Method and recipe....... Later

lol yeah my extreme modesty will be my downfall yet

And just to show this wasn't a fluke - here's one I've just eaten cold from the fridge for my lunch:

Makes it easier to see just how much filling there is and how thin the sausage meat is.

There'll be for the first person who correctly guesses how I did this

I would say you rolled the meat around a form, leaving one end open. Filled and sealed the end. and.or...Perhaps... freezing the bean ball first.

              Damn slick creation CA!!

Semi-freezing the beans, forming them into an egg/ball shape, then forming the meat around them... my guess.

              Drinks well with others

Those are frikkin sweet CA!! I'm going with you chilled a pot of beans to almost freezing, scooped out a ball and froze it, then wrapped the sausage around it?
