I tried smoking on my new pellet grill for the first time today.
My victim: 2 racks of babyback ribs. I used the 2-2-1 method.
Prepping: I put on a light layer of mustard and then I added the rub. The top rack is a homemade rub, the bottom rack is a store bought rub.
2nd pic is after 45 minutes at 225°. I basted a mixture of red wine, Apple juice and melted butter.
3rd pic is ready to be wrapped and put back on for the second 2. I slathered them in butter, brown sugar and honey.
4th pic is back on the smoker with some Yukon golds that I'm smoking as well.
Last pic they've been removed from foil and are on for the last hour. I mopped them with a light coat of bbq sauce that I mixed with some maple syrup.
I think they turned out really good. I'm glad I didn't put more bbq sauce on while they were cooking. I would rather have a little on the side while I'm eating. I thought both rubs were delicious.
The potatoes were excellent and I will make them again.
