  • Vortex Thai Wings

First sorry I have not been posting much. Fall is crazy times. All is well!!

Did some wings via the vortex last night.

Seasoned with Lowry's and veg. Oil.

Put on the vortex running real hot. Added a piece of apple wood.

These wings cooked in 25 minutes... not way they were making another 90 degree vent rotation.

Pulled off coated with sweet Thai Chili sauce and then back over the vortex for a few seconds to get a bit of char.

Then back into the sauce ready to eat.

    Thanks for looking!!

Yeah I was shocked... I could hear them sizzle, opened lid and dang they looked done. It was a topped off vortex so it was full. I did rub then with oil first.... maybe they fried a bit. They were good though!! The lid thermo of course was pegged out... my ove glove caught on fire in two minutes when I left it on the lid....

Topped off and full of what?
I find different fuels bring higher or lower temps in the Vortex...
                Just curious...

That's where I get the hottest temps in the vortex...
Lump is a good choice for high heat too...

I love the RO briqs but they don't burn hot/fast enough in the V in my opinion...

Yeah.. I first lit my chimney and then dumped and it was only about 1/2 way up the vortex.. so I got the bag out carefully and topped it off... without catching the bag I fire I might add.... then drank a beer and that kettle was humming... maybe the 1000000 degree grates helped with the cooking time too.... who knows other than the wings did not last with the boys and me.... glad the girls were out for the night...
