  • New MES

You MES guys convinced an old stick burner to give it a go...

I volunteered to take my toy hauler, to use as a mobile office, down to the Texas gulf coast to support our claims team and cook for the adjusters and displaced residents.

I'm taking enough supplies to serve 1000 meals and need some serious cooking capacity. Leaving the reverse flow smoker behind because it's too big and too slow. Planning on grilling most of the meats and using the MES as an oven and warmer.

I got propane because the electric pulled 1200 watts and the would put a strain my generator with the ACs going.

I'm about to get a crash course in MES cooking!!!

It will be a week or longer before the adjusters can get in to inspect damaged properties in the coastal areas. The company hopes to have advance teams on the ground Wednesday near the affected areas to write the displaced customers checks for the ALE Additional Living Expense coverage under their homeowners policies. This will give them some immediate money for food & lodging.

The experience with Katerina & Ike was the residents in these areas have limited access to food & water so we serve meals at these field claims offices and no one is turned away.

Good on you, HornedToad! I'm sure the company isn't covering all your costs for this. PM me as soon as you can. I'd like to donate to your cause.

The response to Hurricane Harvey relief has been huge and they are actually turning volunteers away in some areas.

I'm on hold until a site opens up. A BBQ team of local agents set up in Aransas Pass between Port A and Rockport today and I'm planning to go down Saturday.

On of my priorities will be to search out team leaders of first responders and offer them a meal for their crew and a place to sit down and take a break in the AC.
