  • First Dutch Baby! Awesome!

I have a friend from England and he said same as Yorkshire pudding. I treated this as a breakfast thing, but my ex-chef bartender said they used to use it with leftover roast beef and gravy. Can't wait to try this. This was the easiest thing I've ever made besides toast.

One of these days I want to try one. Both making and eating. they don't seem to be very popular around here as I've never seen one on a menu except on restaurant on the coast. They sound good though.

lol first french toast and now yorkshire puddings - is there anything you lot won't dowse in sugar and syrup ?

That is a good looking batter pudding. And yes in yorkshire the larger ones are often used as an edible plate :-)

How did you cook it to get that huge rise ?

                        Dutch Baby

                        3 eggs
                        2/3 c AP flour
                        pinch salt
                        1/2 tsp van extract
                        2/3 c milk
                        4 tbsp. butter

oven to 450 with cast iron pan on middle rack. Mix all ingredients except butter. mix well. Add the butter to the pan and swirl until melted. Pour batter in and put pan in oven for 18 - 22 minutes until brown and puffed.

As I mentioned before I treated this as breakfast pancake. It was just a tad custardy. Really really super easy. This will be a breakfast to impress! Or a savory addition to a dinner. It was fun to do, I'm sure kids would love to help with this!
