It's been cold lately and getting dark between 5:00 and 5:30PM so that means that we stop working when the sun sets and hang around the fire and have a few beers. So I don't really like getting my camera out. It's best to leave it in the truck where it will be safe. But here are a few cooks from the past month or so all using my Dutch Ovens.
I had smoked a half ham last month and used part of it to make some breakfast burritos. I cut the ham in strips, heated it on the DO lid, warmed some tortillas and scrambled the eggs on the DO lid, too. We added cheese to them when we put them together.
Also made some of my baked spaghetti one weekend.
Ready to add some sauce
And some cheese to melt in the sauce.
Once the cheese melts, spaghetti gets added.
Then sometimes I like to top with a little more sauce.
I let it bake about an hour at around 450 degrees. Then I top it with more Mozzarella and Cheddar cheese and let it bake until it's all melted. Here are the leftovers a few nights later after re-heating. I think the leftovers may even be better.
Started a pot of chili one weekend on the other side of the farm.
The old man worked on tearing down this old bus stop that was left by the previous owners, and we had plenty of firewood for the night.
And when it was dark, I packed up my DO and we moved to the other side of the farm where the barn is. And I got my chili back to cooking on Little Joe
Chili hit the spot on this cold night. Perfect with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich!
One chilly morning, I baked some biscuits (no, not home made) and cooked some sausage for sausage gravy. I have only made gravy 2 other times before this time...first time it was really good....2nd time, no so much...so I was a little worried about it, but decided not to let it intimidate me.
Scrambled the eggs on the DO lid and cooked the sausage and gravy in the DO. Gravy turned out very well!!
That's all I got today. Thanks for stopping in!
