  • Memorial Day Weekend on the Farm - PorkLoin, Chicken Legs & Sides

Life's been a little crazy lately and I haven't been taking many pictures of food but thought I'd share a few from Memorial Day weekend. Yes, it's taken me this long to post. We had the whole family down to the farm for some rest and relaxation minus my Dad who had passed away unexpectedly the week before.

I smoked a Mad Hunky pork loin and Mad Hunky Hot Whang chicken legs. I didn’t use much Hot Whang since we had kids coming. I also made a pineapple upside down cake in one of my DOs. Family brought most of the sides - macaroni salad, 7 layer salad, and they brought stuff to make cowboy beans, hash brown casserole and a corn bake in Dutch ovens. I cut the loin in half and on one half I brushed some of Deano's (dsgarner06) amazing peach BBQ sauce on it before pulling of the grill. Everyone LOVED that stuff! Sweet with just a little heat. Thanks again, Deano!

The loin with the peach BBQ is in the back.

The kids painted rocks and had a blast.

Then they raced some tires down the hill.

Good times and beautiful day! Thanks for looking!

First of all, very sorry to hear about your Dad. I hope he had a long life and, by looking at your family post, I'm sure he had a happy one.

For years I've had an interest in CI but didn't pursue it until recently. You and Jeanie have totally inspired us. I'm probably going to be doin' the PM thing to both of you soon with all my questions. Watch out! AWESOME looking cook and family time. We have a fun family gathering with Craig's sister's family, (they are the only two left of his immediate family), on Fourth of July. It's all good when Q and fireworks are involved!
