It's a beautiful thing that you are recreating something from your childhood and what your mother made for you. Our lessons are what we've learned and how we apply them in our adult life. Cooking is no exception, and this being a perfect example.
I say this because I've never had anything like this dish, but you have and shared it with us.
Comfort food comes from the soul, and what makes us smile. I love what you did here Jeanie. I'm inspired to make this.
Thank you for sharing.
Sam thank you! You are a kind friend.
I had a great childhood. Cooking mom's dishes brings back nice memories.
Both of my parents taught me so much.... Things I use every day.
I miss my mom and dad and hope that they would be happy with the woman I've become.
Thanks again Sam.. :)
When my Mom passed, we all went thru her recipes... which included grandma's recipes too. Treasures they are indeed. Mom didn't have many cookbooks, butt the one she had that stuck to me was the Betty Crocker cookbook from the 50's.
Phil that's one of the books I found at Mom's. I think it was my Grandma's but not sure. It's tattered and full of notes. :)
Looks SO GOOD Jeanie! I would love a plate of that. If I mentioned Turkey, or Pork necks to my wife, I would get "the look"
Love to see things often referred to as a "lesser cut", or whatever, and turned into something special like this. nicely done!!
Fishawn thanks! Necks aren't often thought of as food... but the meat is SO tender. Just like beef cheeks or hog jowls, It takes a bit of work to get at the meat but it's worth the trouble.
Thanks Fishawn..
Another off-the-chart cook! Excellent Jeanie, just excellent.
Lang 36 Patio, a few Webers, 2 Eggs, plenty of gadgets and a MES 40 Gen 2.5 electric for bacon and sausage.
My best asset however is the inspiration from the members on this forum.
