  • Brinkmann Smoke N' Pit Charcoal Basket???

My Buddy just bought a Brinkmann Smoke N' Pit, and he wants me to help him make a charcoal basket for it, anyone got any plans on this, he has some sheet metal (non galvanized) to start. Here is his smoker and a pick of the firebox

I had the old style snp. Had a charcoal basket and a baffle made for it. Used to be a guy who hung around the boards that fabbed stuff for the snp and thats how I got mine. Don't think he's around any longer.

They can turn out some great Q! Shouldn't be to difficult to make a basket any welding shop should be able to make one up for you relatively cheap. Have him extend the exhaust down to the grate level too. Easiest and cheapest mod you can do. Just get a piece of dryer vent (not galvanized) and hook it to existing exhaust. Works great for keeping that heat and smoke down low in the smoker where you want it.

My kids just took my old snp the other day when I got my new stick burner otherwise you would be welcome to it.

Bro's got a longer flatter basket outta expanded metal that works well. Can be bolted together like one for a drum.

Made mine pretty much like they are saying, but 12x12 wouldn't fit, had to change to like 10x12. Still have to coax it in a bit, but works great! I just get it in to place, pour the coals in the center(kept open by a coffee can) then let er' rip! Works great!!!

Well I had an old stock pot, so I cut it down to fit, drilled some 1/2" holes all around, some bigger on the bottom, put some bolts on the bottom for legs, and he bought some steel that we will use as a baffel, went with him yesterday to pick up a brisket for the BBQ tomorrow, also made hime get an oven thermometer, the one on his smoker reads 100* when it isn't even lit, pos. Going over there today to help him get everything going, and help him with some cold beers he's having trouble consuming

Mine is 10" x 10" x 9" high. Just some 3/4" #9 expando cut, bent, and wired together.

Works pretty well -- when I use it.
