Smells great!! Brisket sitting at 155* on it way to 200* ish give or take.

Going to be a good day...

It really sounds a lot like the Abrams sauce... Love that stuff. I wish I could get more of that... maybe this will be a suitable replacement.

So far so good... cooling now. I subbed 4 Tbsp honey for the sugar. Seems about right... from what I remember.

I'm betting a dash of ginger and a couple Tbsp of soy would fit right in there too... I'll try that reduced for about a quarter cup later.

Oh..and I used Smitty's... half the amount

I just made a batch for this afternoons smoke. Love the flavor. Really nice tang, very subtle vinegar flavor, and a little bit of kick. Thanks for posting this.

Nice little sauce!! I like it.. Definitely not as sweet as the store bought items. I have a sweet sauce person coming over tonight... cant wait till she tries it..I did leave out the hot pepper as well as I know they do not like the heat...

I give it a solid

Thanks for the recipe!!

Oh...long time. Plenty of acid and other stuff in there. I'll go with a couple months pretty easy.

Also, the recipe doesn't make a huge amount. That way you can use it up and not have a bunch of waste. I'm thinking that for larger events, I'm going to have to scale this up to make a larger batch.

Default Major Update!

I just made a batch, let it cool, and let me tell ya... YUM!! I tried it on some chiggin parts done up on the Weber kettle. This is good Dana! Only thing I did different was I doubled the recipe, was one lemon shy, so I used a lime to replace it. Also, I cut the brown sugar in half, and replaced that half with honey.

Overall, great balance of sweet, heat, and spice. Great base to build on, or great just as is.

Good call Dana... thanks!!

Yup. Kinda had a feeling you might like it Hawg. For grins...get ya a bottle of Rudy's. Worth the price if for no reason other than a reference.

But you can't buy sauce... you have to buy "sause" (sic)

Great timing Dana!! I will make some up this week for the big smoke this weekend.
The bottle of Rudy's you gave me for Christmas is almost gone and I was going to have to place an order. We seriously love this stuff!
Do you have clones of the other treats in the gift box?
Each and every item was fantastic and they each had their own place in the arsenal.

Ron, I am glad you enjoyed the Sause...I had a lot of fun putting that box together, and the one you sent me was AMAZING! I have bought jars of maple cream for my entire family!

For those of you that haven't participated in the Christmas exchange, it will introduce you to a lot of things that you may never otherwise get to try...and you get to make another great friend.

Love the sound of doing an exchange, did them all the time of SMurf.
Anyone in the Kansas City area (Missouri or there abouts) interested in an exchange or a straight deal to ship me some Curley's Famous Barbecue Sauce?
Can't get it here, lost my contact and shipping from the site is outrageous.

Anyone interested and willing please shoot me a pm

Thanks for the recipe.

Never had Rudy's ? I was lucky to receive a bottle from Dana a while back. Hands down, one of the best sauces I ever had. Almost good enough to stick a a straw in the bottle and sit back and enjoy

Dana, I'm gonna give that clone recipe a try. Thanks for posting buddy
