  • Howdy from DFW

Long time "smoker" . I started 30+ years ago with a "kettle" w water pan in bottom and progressed from there. Ive burned out and rebuilt fireboxes on 2 Brinkman vertical smokers. My second just gave up the ghost on the second firebox so want to build one from heavier metal. I found this site when searching designs to build one. Good news is I have a 30" diameter, 1/4" thick that is 4 ft long pipe to start from. I like the vertical but will probably go vertical with couple racks. Also a left over boat trailer if I want to make it mobile. If you can point me to a couple builds on this site it would be appreciated.

                            Burned out

Aardvark probably was a combination of burned out and rust due to my laziness of cleaning out ashes after smoking. Fire box would get wet if it rained and stuff happened. But the brinkmans were probably 18 ga metal so didn't take much. Didn't take any pictures but pulled old firebox and built new one using 55 gallon drum. It works until I can build one. Thanks guys for the welcome
