Would this be considered a precursor to say something like the Ronco Rotisserie oven? Or any of those newer ones you see now that sit on the counter top?

I don't know, Todd. The manual talks about the open air around the meat sealing in the juices and that's why it doesn't splatter like in an oven...so really, like I said, I don't know.
