Note: The Orange ones are faster.

Yeah, what Rich said. I went through several of the cheap dial thermometers before deciding to spring for one of these. Now I can't cook without it.

Totally agree. I went through several cheaper brands, before getting a Thermopen. The super fast (about 2 seconds) to read is amazing and highly accurate. My old Taylor worked, but it took way too long to display temp, many times resulting in a very warm hand This is the best investment for aiding your cooks... spend the money, don't cheap out.... it's worth it.

For $22 off normal price (these don't go on sale that often) you simply can't beat it. I suggest buying the extra batteries ($4 for 2) for spares... and you can't beat the $2.99 shipping from Fedex Ground.

I got a purple one, and my neighbor went with blue. He doesn't have to know about those jelly beans. Other than the "open box item" sticker on the front, I'm not sure why these were open box items.
